Day 1 -
Arriving on a Thursday night in Paris, you will be welcomed with champagne cocktails
at the Hotel Chateau Frontenac****. The reception will be followed by a dinner at the
Terres des Truffes restaurant where every dish is complemented with fresh truffles.
Day 2 -
The next day, on Friday, is the departure to Monet's very famous house in Giverny where
we will visit his home, garden and pond. In the afternoon we will drive to the famous
Normandy harbor of Honfleur where many Impressionists came to capture the beautiful
scenery and pace of life. We will stay at a typical and charming hotel overlooking the
harbor. The dinner will take place in a wonderful restaurant where Bertrand has established
a very close relationship with the owners. It will be an evening to enjoy typical Normandy
fare and of course, Calvados.
Normandy by the Sea
Bordering on the English Channel, Normandy's history dates back to the 8th Century. An
unspoiled paradise and famous for its gastronomic delights, the region is the land of
Calvados brandy, rich butter, cream and other dairy products, sauce Normande, canard a
la Rouen, Camembert cheese and prized lamb raised on the salt meadows of Normandy.
The major cities in the region are Calvados, Bayeux and Honfleur. Giverny, an hour's drive
from Paris, is the home of Monet; one of the world's most famous Impressionist painters.
Further south is the awe-inspiring site of the WW II American Cemetery and the artificial
harbor built during the war. With a large rural population, Normandy is reminiscent of a
grand landscape painting with cattle leisurely grazing in the open fields.
