Day 7 - Departing on a leisurely three hour drive, we'll leave for
our tour of the Burgundy region. The Olivier Leflaive vineyard, a wine producer at Puligny
Montrachet, is on our list to visit, followed by a wine tasting of 16 different Burgundy wines
and complimented with a luncheon. We'll then check into the Hotel Moulin d'Hauterives and have
dinner on our own at the hotel or in Beaune; a twenty minute drive from the hotel.
Day 8 - Will find us driving to the Côtes de Nuit region;
between Dijon and Beaune where we'll visit the Clos du Vougeot Chateau. We'll also visit the
winemakers, Gaston and Pierre Gravaut at Buisson in Côtes de Nuit and then enjoy a lunch
selected by the owners at Les Terrasses de Corton. After lunch we'll go on to the Chateau de
Pommard and then back to the Hotel Moulin d'Hauterive where we'll have dinner in the hotel's
restaurant.
Bountiful Burgundy
Historically and culturally rich, Burgundy is one of the most fascinating areas of France. This
region combines everything to make the table a warm and welcoming place. Burgundians use their
local products to best effect. They are always ready to share their cooking with a genuine love
of food. Burgundy's range of gastronomic experiences includes bistros on the banks of a river,
prestigious restaurants or regional farmhouse inns.
Several restaurateurs have won the coveted Restaurateurs de France label, awarded for the
excellence of locally produced ingredients. The most famous of Burgundy's products and its best
ambassador is its wine. No one who spends time in Burgundy can miss visiting the regions' many
wine cellars. These can be truly theatrical moments with unforgettable scenes played by
structured crus and wine producers who are devoted to their craft.
