Crush restaurant: a hip and warm place
in Seattle
Imagine that you turned you whole house into a restaurant and
began receiving patrons in your living quarters! This is how
Jason and Michele turned their dream into reality. They totally renovated
an old Madison Valley house into a warm and very convivial gathering place.
As you walk to the restaurant entrance, you can smell the aroma of all
the herbs planted along the walkway, and right away, you feel like being
at home.
The inside is elegant, cozy with a somewhat modern and trendy
style. The kitchen is open and from the bar you can observe the
activity of the kitchen crew under Jason’s leadership. The menu is inspiring and
quite self-explanatory and offers a wide range of contemporary American
cuisine with a touch of European influence such as duck confit served with
sautéed spinach or a squid salad as appetizer, crispy pan-seared
fresh salmon or halibut fillet perfectly cooked and served
with a selection of flavorful and colorful vegetables. I really liked
the warm apple tart with caramel ice cream, spiced apple balls, and chips
with Calvados.
I was also impressed by the extensive list of wines from
all over the world and at reasonable prices. The wait staff
is efficient and professional, although in some situations,
can sometimes be a little too pretentious.
In conclusion, I would recommend dining at the Crush. It
is definitively a great experience. You need to reserve your seats
early in advance, however, as space is limited and its reputation has
brought the restaurant a growing clientele. I like the authenticity,
spontaneity and friendliness of the owners, Jason and Nicole who have
created a hip and charming place to enjoy a fine meal.
